We use only the very best Criollo cacao from the rainforests of Peru. The cacao is farmed organically by farmers working in a co-operative which supports the local economy. The Criollo bean represents only 5% of the world’s cacao production and is very high quality, aromatic and lacking in bitterness. The beans are minimally processed at low temperatures to preserve these natural characteristics.
We’ve also added some Chaga mushroom powder for its amazing properties. Historically, Chaga mushrooms, also known as “black gold”, are known for their antioxidant content. In fact, they have one of the highest antioxidant content of any food.
Our Barista Blends are designed to be added to hot milk, either dairy or non-dairy.

Our Cacao Latte is sweetened using unrefined coconut nectar. This popular and unique sugar alternative is made from the sweet nectar of coconut blossom and has a rich nutritional content, as well as a lower GI than refined white sugar.
Organic Chaga mushroom powder
The Chaga mushroom grows primarily on birch trees in cold climates and has an appearance similar to burnt charcoal. It has been harvested for centuries as a traditional medicine and is known as the ‘King of Mushrooms’. It contains high levels of antioxidants and has been shown to lower cholesterol levels, improve immune function and reduce blood pressure.

Why is your hot chocolate healthy?
Chocolate in its purest form, the cacao bean, is the seed of a tree, so is a nutritionally-dense food. Chocolate is considered ‘unhealthy’ as a regular chocolate bar contains large amounts of refined white sugar, especially if it has a lower cacao percentage as in milk chocolate. Eating (or drinking!) pure cacao is a natural powerhouse of nutrients, with cacao containing high levels of flavanoids, which are linked to increased heart health. It has one of the highest levels of magnesium of any plant food, which promotes relaxation and bone health.
Is Cacao the same as Cocoa?
The difference is in the way the bean is processed after picking. Cacao refers to a bean that has been minimally processed at much lower temperatures and therefore retains higher levels of nutrients. Cacoa refers to the highly processed version of the bean which is used in most mainstream chocolate products.
Benefits of drinking a Cacao Latte vs Drinking Chocolate
Scientific studies have shown that consuming cacao can lower the risk of developing coronary heart disease and stroke. This is it being naturally rich in flavanols. These plant compounds enable the body to neutralise harmful free-radicals and have also been shown to help with viral infections.
