Description

A delicious take on a traditional chai tea, this chai latte combines the spices of nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves and black pepper. We’ve also added a little Reishi for a boost of super goodness.

In China and other Eastern societies, the Reishi mushroom is the most widely used symbol of longevity.  Its use dates back 2000 years, with the ancient kings and emperors all consuming Reishi tea, and has attained a reputation in the East as the ultimate herbal substance.

This latte mix combines chai spices with Reishi Mushroom powder and unrefined coconut nectar, to create a delicious alternative latte.

Our Barista Blends are designed to be added to hot milk, either dairy or non-dairy.

Organic Reishi Mushroom Powder

Medicinal mushrooms have been used in the Orient for centuries and have some amazing and varied properties.  Reishi is known to contain more than 400 nutrients, and is traditionally used for relaxation and stress relief.  It also has amazing immune-boosting properties.

Organic Chai Spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves and black pepper)

Spices have a long and colourful history. From 3000 BC spices are known to have been traded, with Kerala in India becoming the major spice trade centre. The spice route from Asia to Europe was established in the 15th centary, with the spices of black pepper, cumin, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg being traded. These spices are now popular ingredients in modern recipes and can be found on kitchen shelves around the world.  Science is now showing that they contain numerous health-boosting properties.

Organic Raw Crystallised Coconut Nectar

We use raw, unrefined coconut nectar as the sweetener in our lattes. This popular sugar alternative is made from the nectar of coconut blossom and is rich in nutrients.  It also has a lower GI than refined white sugar with an almost caramel taste.

How is chai tea different from regular tea?

Traditional chai tea made and sold on the streets of India is a strong black tea with added spices.  It’s very sweet, with lots of refined sugar added to the recipe.  Our chai latte recipe doesn’t contain any black tea so is caffine-free.  It’s contains a blend of some amazing spices, together with Reishi mushroom and coconut sugar, to create a delicious healthier option.

What’s a “dirty chai latte”?

The term ‘dirty’ usually means that a shot of coffee has been added.  A ‘dirty chai latte’ can be found in many cafes and is a blend of chai spices and coffee.

Can I make a vegan chai latte?

Yes absolutely.  All our blends can be made with any type of plant-based milk.

I love my coffee and I’m not a tea drinker, so I always look for something comforting when it comes to 2/3pm and it’s really important to me that it’s caffeine free. I’ve really been enjoying the chai latte for this – it’s been the perfect afternoon ‘pick me up’.
