100% Pure Organic Japanese Matcha Ceremonial Grade

The history of green tea in China goes back to 8th century and making powdered tea from steam-prepared dried tea leaves became popular in the 12th century.  It was around this time that a Buddhist monk, called Myoan Eisai, discovered Matcha and introduced it to Japan. Esai realized that drinking matcha improved his Zen meditation sessions by producing a state of calm alertness,  which we know today is due to the interaction of matcha’s caffeine and L-theanine.  Drinking matcha not only aided the meditation efforts of Zen monks but also became a means in attaining enlightenment itself. Sacrificing a bowl of the drink to Buddha was part of everyday temple practices.

What does Matcha green tea do for you?

Matcha, like green tea, is high in antioxidants, including catechins, which may help prevent cell damage and lower your risk of certain diseases. Some studies also indicate that the catechins and caffeine found in matcha may have a mild benefit in weight loss and management.

Is it OK to drink Matcha green tea everyday?

Yes, it’s absolutely fine to drink matcha tea every day.  However, if you’re pregnant or sensitive to caffeine, keep an eye on your consumption.

Is matcha green tea better than green tea?

Both matcha and green tea come from the leaves of the Camellis sinensis plant.  Green tea leaves are picked and then steamed and dried before oxidation occurs, keeping it green rather than the black of regular tea.  Matcha comes from the same leaf but is grown in the shade, increasing its chlorophyll content. The leaves are then pulverized into a powder.  As a result you consume the entire leaf when you drink matcha tea, which has important nutritional implications.
